Maritime transport is crucial for global trade and economic development: port efficiency and productivity boost trade competitiveness and growth. While container ports are critical nodes in global supply chains—supporting trade, jobs, and economic growth.

Efficient ports reduce costs, improve supply chain reliability, and lower emissions by minimizing delays and fuel use. Also, improving port efficiency speeds the transportation of goods and reduces logistics costs and delays.
