Malick Ndiaye, a 41-year-old member of the African Patriots of Senegal for Work, Ethics, and Fraternity (Pastef-Les Patriotes), was elected speaker of the National Assembly on Monday by a significant majority, marking a pivotal moment in Senegal’s political landscape.
In a Facebook post, Ndiaye expressed gratitude for his election and outlined his vision for the 15th legislative session.
He pledged to promote dialogue, openness, and justice, and to ensure that the National Assembly remains a platform for the people’s voices.
Ndiaye also acknowledged the support of President Macky Sall and Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko, and expressed his appreciation for the contributions of past Speakers.
