Africa’s 10 Best Countries in 2026

1. Dantata–Dangote Family—Nigeria

The Dangote Group is the largest industrial conglomerate in West Africa, with various divisions like Dangote Cement, Dangote Flour, Dangote Sugar, and Dangote Refinery. Dangote’s father, Al-Hassan Dantata, was also a wealthy businessman. He was a major supplier of raw materials in the colonial era. His nephew, Aliko Dangote, Africa’s richest man with a net worth of $25.2 billion, leads a vast multipurpose conglomerate, but the Dantata family’s reach goes far beyond him.

2. Motsepe Family – South Africa

The Motsepes might look like new money, but their influence is massive. Patrice Motsepe, a mining lawyer turned entrepreneur, is South Africa’s first Black billionaire.

3. The Alaouite Dynasty—Morocco

The Moroccan Royal Family, led by King Mohammed VI, is one of Africa’s most powerful dynasties, mixing political authority with serious economic muscle.

4. Adeleke Family – Nigeria

The Adeleke family is a rare blend of politics, culture, social influence, and wealth. They rarely make headlines as a whole, yet they are often spotted at high-profile events, celebrated for their zest for life.

5. Rupert Family – South Africa

The Rupert family is a family from Stellenbosch, South Africa. The Rupert family was listed as 272nd on the list of the 500 wealthiest worldwide, with a net worth of $2.3 billion, in March 2005. In June 2020, the family was ranked as the 375th on Forbes’s “Billionaires 2020” list, with a fortune of $5.2 billion.

6. Sawiris Family – Egypt

The Sawiris family is Egypt’s top business dynasty, commanding wealth, political clout, and global recognition.

7. Kenyatta Family – Kenya

It’s impossible to discuss East African history without mentioning the Kenyattas. For decades, they have shaped Kenya’s economy and politics and are, in many ways, the landlords of Nairobi.

8. Oppenheimer Family – South Africa

The Oppenheimer family is an Anglo–South African family best known for its longtime control of Anglo American and De Beers. The Oppenheimer family residence is the Brenthurst Estate in Parktown, Johannesburg.

9. Mansour Family—Egypt

10. Masiyiwa Family – Zimbabwe

Born in Zimbabwe, Strive Masiyiwa is the 10th wealthiest billionaire in Africa as of 2022 and is widely regarded as the “Bill Gates of Africa.” Masiyiwa grew his wealth after launching a mobile phone network called Econet Wireless Zimbabwe in his home country in 1998.
