Ghana’s President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on Wednesday announced a major cabinet reshuffle in which he has dropped Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, who has been blamed by the general public and also MPs of the ruling New Patriotic Party, among others, for the serious economic challenges facing the country.
He will be replaced by Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam, Minister of State at the Ministry of Finance.
President Akufo-Addo, whose second term ends on 6 January 2025, also dropped the following senior ministers.
Interior – Ambrose Dery
Health – Kwaku Agyeman Manu
Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation – Dr. Kwaku Afriyie
Roads and Highways – Kwasi Amoako-Atta
Local Government, Decentralisation and Rural Development – Dan Botwe
Sanitation and Water Resources – Freda Prempeh
Tourism, Arts and Culture – Ibrahim Mohammed Awal
Gender, Children and Social Protection – Lariba Abudu
The reshuffle also affected regional ministers and many deputy ministers.
President Akufo-Addo named the following new ministers:

Roads and Highways – Francis Asenso Boakye
Works and Housing – Kojo Oppong Nkrumah
Minster of State at the Office of the President – Ambrose Dery Health – Bernard Okoe Boye
Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation – Ophelia Mensah Hayford
Information – Fatimatu Abubakar
Gender, Children and Social Protection – Dakoa Newman Sanitation and Water Resources – Lydia Seyram Alhassan
Tourism, Arts and Culture – Andrew Egyapa Mercer
