Gabon’s transitional President, Brice Oligui Nguema, has announced a major cabinet reshuffle on Wednesday, January 15, introducing significant changes to the current administration.
The most notable appointments include Marc Dumba, who replaced Mays Mouissi as Minister of Economy and State Holdings, a key strategic position.
The Prime Minister Raymond Ndong Sima retains his position as head of the government, while Alexandre Barrault-Chambrier, was appointed Vice Prime Minister in charge of Planning and Foresight.
Other significant changes were the appointment of General Flavien Nzengi Ndzounou as Minister of State for Public Works, signaling the government’s increased focus on infrastructure development.
Camélia Tountoum-Leclerc was also elevated to the rank of Minister of State, taking charge of the Ministry of National Education and Civic Instruction.
The Ministry of Defense remains under the leadership of General Brigitte Onkanoa, while Régis Onanga Ndiaye, was assigned the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Sub-Regional Integration, and Gabonese Abroad. The critical Ministry of Environment and Climate is now headed by Maïs Mwissi, succeeding Arcadie Svetlana Minguegui.
Adjustments were made in other sectors, including Transport, Social Affairs, and Mines.
This reshuffle reflects a clear intent to enhance the management of Gabon’s economic and social priorities, with a particular focus on institutional stability and the strategic redirection of key economic sectors.
