Abstract:
The study reveals the economic, political and military repercussions of the Russian invasion of Ukraine on African countries, after the rise in prices of energy, agricultural materials and fertilizers, the fear of increasing political and security instability, and the continent’s transformation into an arena of struggle for influence between Russia and the West. The paper also points to some strategies for avoiding or mitigating the negative repercussions of this war, while noting some of the positive effects that the war had on some African countries in general. The level of economic exchange between the two parties to the conflict and African countries is not large, but its importance lies in the quality of the goods exchanged, which are often represented by food and weapons, in addition to the political and security presence of Russia on the continent, which it is working to develop, which clashes with Western influence, which makes the political repercussions The security implications of the Russian-Ukrainian war are more dangerous to the African continent than the economic repercussions. The paper discusses this through a number of axes: food and energy prices and the expansion of poverty in Africa, Russian trade and investment in Africa, increasing political and security instability, strategies to mitigate the effects of war, and Africa’s opportunities that came with the war.
