The image of the African in the Western media

Abstract:

The role of Western-directed media is no longer confined to merely "transmitting information," but has surpassed it to reach a dangerous stage: "manufacturing information" and "defining an agenda for thinking." When the "image of the African human" is the focus of Western media, it is subjected to distortion in a way that serves Western interests.

In this article, we attempt to reveal the image of the African human in Western media through three main axes: the intellectual foundations of the image of the African human in Western media, the extent of the Western media machine's influence on the image of the African human, and the alternative African media role in promoting the authentic image of the African human to address the phenomenon of distortion by Western media.
