The Mossi kingdoms were among the most resistant to these efforts, especially the Kingdom of Dagomba. In this study, we highlight the role of itinerant traders in spreading Islam, particularly after they persuaded King Na Zangina to embrace Islam, while also examining the Islamic influences that emerged within this kingdom.

The study concludes that the spread of Islam across Dagomba was a gradual and prolonged process, ultimately accomplished through the individual efforts of mobile Muslim merchants such as the Dyula and Yarsé. It is also worth highlighting the pivotal role of the Imam, who enjoyed a privileged position and high esteem among the Dagomba kings.

[172,171,170
145
474
post-542","article","type-article","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","tag-dagomba-kingdom","tag-the-spread-of-islam","tag-volta-river","issuem_issue-issue-51-january-2022
["GET
