The armies of Burkina Faso<\/a> and Niger have killed an unknown number of militants in joint operations, local media has reported.<\/p>\n

The attack comes a week after Burkina Faso\u2019s parliament approved the deployment of troops to Niger in order to fight the Islamist uprising along the countries’ common border.<\/p>\n

Burkina Faso\u2019s state-owned RTB TV channel said on Sunday that raids where launched after troops spotted \u201ca column of terrorists\u201d leaving Niger for Burkina Faso.<\/p>\n

Joint forces \u201cneutralised these attackers in pairs on 100 motorbikes and destroyed most of their logistics\u201d in eastern Burkina Faso’s Kantchari area, the channel added.<\/p>\n

Earier this month, Burkina Faso, Niger and Mali established<\/a> a defence pact, named the Alliance of Sahel States, in a bid to support each other against any armed rebellion or external aggression.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
