South Africa<\/a>‘s ruling\u00a0African National Congress, (ANC), is hosting meetings with members of political parties from\u00a0Brazil,\u00a0Russia,\u00a0India,\u00a0China\u00a0and others ahead of the\u00a0BRICS<\/a> Summit\u00a0on August\u00a022nd\u00a0in\u00a0Johannesburg.<\/p>\n

The conflict in\u00a0Ukraine\u00a0remains one of the main topics in everyone’s minds.<\/p>\n

“We are for the silencing of the guns in Ukraine, the achievement of genuine peace and the peaceful coexistence between Russia, Ukraine and the neighbourhood”. (…)\u00a0“We are fully behind the African peace initiative led by\u00a0President Cyril Ramaphosa\u00a0and the seven other African heads of states and government, to find a peaceful solution to the conflict, by initiating dialogue between\u00a0President Vladimir Putin\u00a0and\u00a0President Zelenskyy”, said\u00a0Paul Mashatile, South African Deputy President & Deputy President of\u00a0ANC.<\/p>\n

Delegates of\u00a0Russia’s\u00a0Communist Party accuse the west of wanting to prolong the conflict.<\/p>\n

“We do not want the war, however those who actually stands behind\u00a0Zelenskyy\u00a0regime, the\u00a0USA\u00a0and western countries, do not want peace. They are doing everything to derail negotiations”, accused\u00a0Artem Prokofiev, Communist Party of the Russian Federation representative.<\/p>\n

It is not yet clear if Russian\u00a0President Vladimir Putin\u00a0will attend next month’s summit of the\u00a0BRICS\u00a0emerging economies.<\/p>\n
