Nigerian Samson Adamu has been named as the Confederation of \u200bAfrican Football\u2019s new General Secretary, the \u200ccontinental body said on Sunday.<\/p>\n
Adamu had been acting general secretary since March after \u200bVeron Mosengo-Omba resigned and later \u200bbecame president of the football federation \u2060in the Democratic Republic of \u200bCongo.<\/p>\n
CAF President Patrice Motsepe said Adamu\u2019s appointment \u200bfollowed a comprehensive recruitment process, during which the position was widely advertised and several \u200bcandidates were interviewed.<\/p>\n
Adamu has worked \u200bat CAF for the last eight years, serving \u200cas \u2060director of competitions and then director of tournaments and events.<\/p>\n
His father Amos Adamu was a member of FIFA\u2019s \u200bexecutive \u200bcommittee but \u2060was banned in 2010 for breaching bribery rules.<\/p>\n
Previous CAF \u200bgeneral secretaries included three generations \u200bof \u2060Egypt’s Fahmy family, with Mourad Fahmy serving from 1961-1982, his son Mustapha \u2060Fahmy \u200bfrom 1982-2010 and grandson \u200bAmr Fahmy from 2017-2019.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
