Health authorities in Nigeria investigating two suspected Ebola cases in the country’s northeast region \u200bconfirmed that the samples tested negative after \u200ctwo rounds of testing, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention said on Sunday.<\/p>\n
The two \u200bindividuals had been isolated while officials \u200bcarried out contact identification, listing and laboratory \u2060testing, authorities said in a post on \u200bX.<\/p>\n
Nigeria confirmed its first Ebola case in more \u200bthan a decade last week in a Swiss woman who had travelled to Uganda and then returned \u200bto the capital Abuja in central Nigeria. \u200bShe and her husband were evacuated to Switzerland on Monday. \u200cIt \u2060remains the only confirmed case of the disease in the country up to date.<\/p>\n
The centre of Africa’s Ebola outbreak is in \u200bDemocratic Republic \u200bof Congo, \u2060where more than 5,000 people have died since it was declared in \u200bMay. Kenya and Uganda have also \u200breported \u2060cases.<\/p>\n
