Nigerian billionaire Aliko Dangote has selected Honeywell Technologies\u00a0\u200bto provide engineering services, licensing and \u200cequipment for a planned new 700,000-barrels-per-day (bpd) refinery in Kenya, the US-based company said \u200bon Wednesday.<\/p>\n
Dangote and Kenya’s President \u200bWilliam Ruto broke ground for the $16 \u2060billion project in Kenya’s Lamu county, \u200bamid criticism from conservationists and affected \u200blandowners who are challenging its construction in court.<\/p>\n
Honeywell and Dangote worked together at his Nigerian \u200brefinery where the company is \u200bhelping with upgrades to double the plant’s \u200ccapacity \u2060to 1.4 million bpd.<\/p>\n
“Through our long-standing relationship with Dangote, we have developed proven large-train engineering designs that can be \u200bapplied \u200bto the \u2060Kenya refinery to significantly reduce time-to-market,” Honeywell Technologies President \u200bRajesh Gattupalli said in \u200ba \u2060statement.<\/p>\n
