Senegal \u200band Italian oil company Eni\u00a0have \u200csigned a memorandum of understanding to conduct preliminary studies and evaluate the \u200bpotential of five offshore blocks, \u200bthe West African country’s energy minister \u2060said on Tuesday.<\/p>\n
The agreement is part \u200bof the government’s strategy to resume \u200boil and gas exploration and promote its sedimentary basin, according to a statement from \u200benergy minister El Hadji Abdourahmane \u200bDiouf.<\/p>\n
Eni will conduct, at its own expense, \u200ca \u2060program of technical studies and analyses designed to deepen the geological and geophysical understanding of blocks SN01M, SN02M, \u200bSN03M, \u200bSN07M and \u2060SN40M.<\/p>\n
The statement said that Senegal’s national oil company Petrosen \u200bwould play a central \u200brole \u2060in developing the basin.<\/p>\n
