Kenya is \u200cexpecting an International Monetary Fund team to visit Nairobi soon for regular consultations, when \u200bthe two sides will also \u200bdiscuss the country’s request for \u2060a new support programme, its central \u200bbank governor said on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
“We \u200bwill have further discussions about our relations going forward, and in particular in terms \u200bof having a fund-supported programme,” \u200bGovernor Kamau Thugge told a press conference.<\/p>\n
Kenya requested \u200ca\u00a0new \u2060IMF programme\u00a0after its previous $3.6 billion deal ended in April last year.<\/p>\n
Officials, including Thugge, have in the \u200bpast \u200bexpressed interest \u2060in getting a new IMF programme that will \u200binclude a lending component.<\/p>\n
