Burkina Faso military leader Paul-Henri Sandaogo Damiba<\/a> is due to be sworn in as the country\u2019s president, just over two weeks after soldiers ousted President Roch Kabor\u00e9 in a coup<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Last week, the Constitutional Council, \u201chaving taken note\u201d of Mr Kabor\u00e9\u2019s resignation, declared Mr Damiba, a 41-year-old army officer, president of Burkina Faso.<\/p>\n

State television says the inauguration will be broadcast live from the Constitutional Council building on Wednesday morning.<\/p>\n

Mr Damiba led soldiers to oust<\/a> Mr Kabor\u00e9, who had faced months of protests over his failure to stem a jihadist insurgency in the north and east of the country.<\/p>\n

On Monday, Mr Damiba travelled to the north of the country to meet soldiers and a government militia fighting terrrorists, state TV reported.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
