Namibia’s energy minister confirmed the removal of Maggy Shino as \u200bthe country’s Petroleum Commissioner, ending months \u200cof speculation but did not provide the reasons for her demotion, a statement \u200bfrom the minister’s office said.<\/p>\n
Shino, \u200bwho helped shape Namibia’s oil and \u2060gas regulatory framework as the \u200bsouthern African country works towards its first \u200boil production by 2030, was relieved of her duties effective June 2.<\/p>\n
She has been \u200breplaced in an acting capacity by \u200bAune Amutenya, who previously worked as a \u200cdeputy \u2060director of petroleum exploration and production in the ministry.<\/p>\n
Shino remains a director in the upstream petroleum unit, a newly \u200bcreated unit \u200bin \u2060the office of the president.<\/p>\n
