GMD and its \u200ballies had won at least 100 seats, the results \u2060showed.<\/p>\n<p>The outcome is set to further consolidate the position of \u200bDoumbouya, a former special forces commander who seized power in 2021 \u200band\u00a0won\u00a0a seven-year term as president in December in a result contested by his opponents.<\/p>\n<p>Nationwide voter turnout was 52.87% for the legislative contests and 58.51% \u200bfor communal elections, a vote for local government bodies, which \u200bwere held simultaneously on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>Aminata Toure, the country&#8217;s top election official, said \u200con \u2060Thursday that political parties had eight days to challenge individual results and that the relevant judicial bodies would adjudicate any disputes.<\/p>\n<p>Final results will be announced after those disputes are resolved.<\/p>\n<p>No major opposition \u200bparties were allowed \u200bto participate \u2060in Sunday&#8217;s vote.
