Madagascar’s president Michael Randrianirina said on Sunday \u200bhe had appointed anti-corruption chief Mamitiana Rajaonarison \u200cas prime minister, days after dismissing the last premier along with the entire cabinet.<\/p>\n
Randrianirina, who\u00a0seized power\u00a0in October and promised \u200ba string of reforms, said the \u200bnew prime minister would lead the \u2060government “on a clean path” and restore hope. \u200bThere was no immediate comment from Rajaonarison.<\/p>\n
“That \u200bintegrity you have is what I expect from you as prime minister. Show that the country \u200bneeds people of integrity -people who cannot \u200bbe swayed and who cannot be bought,” the president \u200csaid \u2060in his address on state television<\/p>\n
He did not give any reasons when\u00a0he dismissed\u00a0former prime minister\u00a0Herintsalama Rajaonarivelo\u00a0and all other \u200bministers on Monday.<\/p>\n
Randrianirina \u200bhas \u2060led what he calls a \u201cRefoundation\u201d since taking power, following a political \u200btransition that saw the collapse \u200bof \u2060the previous government.<\/p>\n
