Nigeria’s government is monitoring escalating \u200btensions in the Middle East as \u200cit assesses potential risks to the country’s economic stability, the finance ministry said on \u200bWednesday.<\/p>\n
Finance Minister Wale Edun convened the \u200bEconomic Management Team to review how \u2060the U.S.-Israeli conflict with Iran could \u200baffect oil prices, capital flows and logistics \u200bcosts.<\/p>\n
The ministry said volatility in global energy markets, including possible disruptions around the Strait of Hormuz, \u200bis already pushing up crude prices \u200band could raise domestic costs for fuel, diesel, \u200ccooking \u2060gas and fertiliser.<\/p>\n
It warned that sustained instability may add pressure on inflation and living costs. Officials are tracking crude price \u200bmovements, exchange \u200brate \u2060pressures, capital flows, fiscal risks and reserve levels.<\/p>\n
Nigeria enters the \u200bperiod with strengthening fundamentals, the ministry \u200bsaid, \u2060citing 4.07% GDP growth in the fourth quarter of 2025.<\/p>\n
