Five Chadian army generals, accused of attempting to bribe an investigating judge, appeared in court on November 5.<\/p>\n
The trial of the generals took place behind closed doors at the Klessoum prison, on the eastern
\noutskirts of Ndjamena, where the defendants have been held since late September 2025.<\/p>\n
The senior officers are accused by an investigating judge of attempted bribery and complicity in the case of the former treasurer of Abeche, Mahamat Massar Houd, who is being prosecuted for the
\nalleged embezzlement of more than six billion CFA francs.<\/p>\n
According to the prosecution, the defendants allegedly offered 100 million CFA francs to the investigating judge for the release of the detained treasurer. Among the accused is the father of the former treasurer.<\/p>\n
At the hearing on November 5, their lawyers requested an encounter with the investigating judge.<\/p>\n
The prosecutor argued that the High Court of Ndjamena lacked jurisdiction. The verdict is expected on November 12.<\/p>\n
