{"id":12798,"date":"2024-08-07T14:21:18","date_gmt":"2024-08-07T14:21:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/qiraatafrican.com\/en\/?p=12798"},"modified":"2024-08-07T14:21:18","modified_gmt":"2024-08-07T14:21:18","slug":"russian-experts-in-burkina-faso-for-nuclear-energy-scheme","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/qiraatafrican.com\/en\/12798\/russian-experts-in-burkina-faso-for-nuclear-energy-scheme\/","title":{"rendered":"Russian experts in Burkina Faso for nuclear energy scheme"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The visit of a delegation from the atomic agency is in line with the declared ambition of Captain Ibrahim Traor\u00e9 to equip the country with a nuclear power plant in 2023 in order to reduce energy dependence.<\/p>\n<p>A delegation from the Russian Atomic Energy Agency (ROSATOM) has been in Ouagadougou since Sunday, August 4, 2024, where it met with Burkina Faso\u2019s Minister of Energy, Yacouba Zabr\u00e9 Gouba.<\/p>\n<p>According to the minister, the purpose of the visit is to implement the roadmap signed between the two parties in March 2024 for the construction of a nuclear power plant in Burkina.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe will be discussing much more technical aspects so that we can get rid of everything that needs to be done beforehand so that we can get on with the actual construction of this power plant,\u201d said Mr. Gouba.<\/p>\n<p>Talks will focus on the implementation and impact of the project and will involve the ministries of environment, higher education, health and agriculture.<\/p>\n<p>The ROSATOM experts \u201cwill be able to put their finger on the realities of the energy issue in Burkina Faso,\u201d said the government representative, who believes that a nuclear power plant \u201cwill be able to definitively and permanently resolve Burkina Faso\u2019s energy deficit.<\/p>\n<p>The nuclear power plant \u201cwill be a tangible fact (\u2026) Both parties will do their utmost to deliver the infrastructure within a reasonable timeframe,\u201d promised the energy minister.<\/p>\n<p>In October 2023, the Burkinabe government and the Russian nuclear giant signed a memorandum of understanding for the construction of a nuclear power plant in Burkina Faso to double the country\u2019s electricity production by 2030.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The visit of a delegation from the atomic agency is in line with the declared ambition of Captain Ibrahim Traor\u00e9 to equip the country with a nuclear power plant in 2023 in order to reduce energy dependence.
