{"id":11813,"date":"2024-05-12T14:40:04","date_gmt":"2024-05-12T14:40:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/qiraatafrican.com\/en\/?p=11813"},"modified":"2024-05-12T14:40:04","modified_gmt":"2024-05-12T14:40:04","slug":"amid-vote-rigging-claim-by-opposition-general-deby-itno-says-i-am-the-president-of-all-chadians","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/qiraatafrican.com\/en\/11813\/amid-vote-rigging-claim-by-opposition-general-deby-itno-says-i-am-the-president-of-all-chadians\/","title":{"rendered":"Amid vote-rigging claim by opposition: General D\u00e9by Itno says \u201cI am the president of all Chadians\u201d"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Shortly before the results were announced, Succ\u00e8s Masra claimed victory and accused the Deby camp of rigging the vote.<\/p>\n<p>After the National Electoral Management Agency (ANGE) announced his victory in the first round early on Thursday evening, General Mahamat Idriss Deby Itno sent a message out to Chadians via his Facebook account.<\/p>\n<p>The president-elect declared that his \u201cgreat victory\u201d made him \u201cthe president of all Chadians,\u201d according to the provisional results of the 6 May elections.<\/p>\n<p>Mahamat claimed he was \u201cthe president of those who voted for me, but also of those who voted differently.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In his message, which lasted just over two minutes, the President-elect expressed a \u201cspecial thought for the unsuccessful candidates\u201d and praised their constructive contribution to this election.<\/p>\n<p>He also expressed his \u201cinfinite gratitude\u201d to the millions of voters who \u201cbelieved in his project\u201d and assured them that he would do his utmost to fulfil his \u201ccommitments.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to ANGE, provisional results put the candidate for a united Chad in the lead with 61.03 percent of the vote, while his main rival, Succes Masra, received 18.53 percent.<\/p>\n<p>Shortly before the results were announced, Masra claimed victory, accusing the Deby camp of rigging the vote, which marks the end of a three-year transition following the death of Field Marshal Idriss Deby Itno in April 2021.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Shortly before the results were announced, Succ\u00e8s Masra claimed victory and accused the Deby camp of rigging the vote.
