Ghana’s President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on Wednesday announced a major cabinet reshuffle in which he has dropped Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, who has been blamed by the general public and also MPs of the ruling New Patriotic Party, among others, for the serious economic challenges facing the country.<\/p>\n
He will be replaced by Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam, Minister of State at the Ministry of Finance.<\/p>\n
President Akufo-Addo, whose second term ends on 6 January 2025, also dropped the following senior ministers.<\/p>\n
Interior – Ambrose Dery<\/p>\n
Health – Kwaku Agyeman Manu<\/p>\n
Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation – Dr. Kwaku Afriyie<\/p>\n
Roads and Highways – Kwasi Amoako-Atta<\/p>\n
Local Government, Decentralisation and Rural Development – Dan Botwe<\/p>\n
Sanitation and Water Resources – Freda Prempeh<\/p>\n
Tourism, Arts and Culture – Ibrahim Mohammed Awal<\/p>\n
Gender, Children and Social Protection – Lariba Abudu<\/p>\n
The reshuffle also affected regional ministers and many deputy ministers.<\/p>\n
President Akufo-Addo named the following new ministers:<\/p>\n
Finance – Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam<\/p>\n
Interior – Henry Quartey<\/p>\n
Roads and Highways – Francis Asenso Boakye<\/p>\n
Works and Housing – Kojo Oppong Nkrumah<\/p>\n
Minster of State at the Office of the President – Ambrose Dery Health – Bernard Okoe Boye<\/p>\n
Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation – Ophelia Mensah Hayford<\/p>\n
Information – Fatimatu Abubakar<\/p>\n
Gender, Children and Social Protection – Dakoa Newman Sanitation and Water Resources – Lydia Seyram Alhassan<\/p>\n
