{"id":10839,"date":"2024-02-14T14:19:55","date_gmt":"2024-02-14T14:19:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/qiraatafrican.com\/en\/?p=10839"},"modified":"2024-02-14T14:19:55","modified_gmt":"2024-02-14T14:19:55","slug":"ghanas-president-drops-finance-minister-many-senior-ministers-in-major-reshuffle","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/qiraatafrican.com\/en\/10839\/ghanas-president-drops-finance-minister-many-senior-ministers-in-major-reshuffle\/","title":{"rendered":"Ghana&#8217;s President drops finance minister, many senior ministers in major reshuffle"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Ghana&#8217;s President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on Wednesday announced a major cabinet reshuffle in which he has dropped Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, who has been blamed by the general public and also MPs of the ruling New Patriotic Party, among others, for the serious economic challenges facing the country.<\/p>\n<p>He will be replaced by Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam, Minister of State at the Ministry of Finance.<\/p>\n<p>President Akufo-Addo, whose second term ends on 6 January 2025, also dropped the following senior ministers.<\/p>\n<p>Interior &#8211; Ambrose Dery<\/p>\n<p>Health &#8211; Kwaku Agyeman Manu<\/p>\n<p>Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation &#8211; Dr. Kwaku Afriyie<\/p>\n<p>Roads and Highways &#8211; Kwasi Amoako-Atta<\/p>\n<p>Local Government, Decentralisation and Rural Development &#8211; Dan Botwe<\/p>\n<p>Sanitation and Water Resources &#8211; Freda Prempeh<\/p>\n<p>Tourism, Arts and Culture &#8211; Ibrahim Mohammed Awal<\/p>\n<p>Gender, Children and Social Protection &#8211; Lariba Abudu<\/p>\n<p>The reshuffle also affected regional ministers and many deputy ministers.<\/p>\n<p>President Akufo-Addo named the following new ministers:<\/p>\n<p>Finance &#8211; Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam<\/p>\n<p>Interior &#8211; Henry Quartey<\/p>\n<p>Roads and Highways &#8211; Francis Asenso Boakye<\/p>\n<p>Works and Housing &#8211; Kojo Oppong Nkrumah<\/p>\n<p>Minster of State at the Office of the President &#8211; Ambrose Dery Health &#8211; Bernard Okoe Boye<\/p>\n<p>Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation &#8211; Ophelia Mensah Hayford<\/p>\n<p>Information &#8211; Fatimatu Abubakar<\/p>\n<p>Gender, Children and Social Protection &#8211; Dakoa Newman Sanitation and Water Resources &#8211; Lydia Seyram Alhassan<\/p>\n<p>Tourism, Arts and Culture &#8211; Andrew Egyapa Mercer<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Ghana&#8217;s President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on Wednesday announced a major cabinet reshuffle in which he has dropped Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, who has been blamed by the general public and also MPs of the ruling New Patriotic Party, among others, for the serious economic challenges facing the country.
